BODO’s newest tenant, Bodovino, hosted a private opening party for wine vendors and neighbors last night. Expansive yet cavernous, the low-lit, exposed brick space wraps around the first floor of the Mercantile Building, offering a variety of seating nooks and high tables, in addition to a long, brushed-metal bar.

Bodovino features stunning warm interiors with wine dispensers by WineEmotion laid throughout the bar.

Bodovino is part retail wine/gift shop, and part high-tech wine bar, with WineEmotion wine dispenser systems scattered throughout the space. Customers purchase a pre-paid card, insert it into one of the machines, select their wine and then choose a one-, three- or five-ounce pour.

“It’s meant to be a self-guided wine experience, so there are 128 unique wines on tap and there’s more even above and beyond that,” explained Marketing and Events Director Mandy Wood. “So there’s 18 different machines, each machine has eight bottles in it. You stick your rechargeable card in the side and it keeps the tally for you. … Each price-point is based on the bottle and the value of the bottle. So we have wines that range from $10 a bottle to $200 a bottle on tap.”

Wines are grouped by region—with New World wines clustered near the entrance and Old World wines huddled in the back. Bottles range from Fabre Montmayou Rose, priced at $5 for a five-ounce pour, to Jobard Meursault, priced at $33.50 for a five-ounce pour. Bodovino also has around 500 additional wines that are available for purchase by the bottle at retail prices.

Bodovino’s kitchen serves both lunch and dinner, with an assortment of salads and crispy flatbreads. The spot also has a well-stocked cheese case, where you can buy cheese by the flight or by the ounce.

The space’s Official Ribbon Cutting is tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 5 at 3:30 p.m., with an open house following the ceremony. The Grand Opening Party is Friday, Dec. 13 from 4 p.m.-1 a.m. at 404 S. Eighth St.
